Libby and Brett were so much fun to work with! This shoot began at Lake Nokomis. Later we went downtown to the Crowne Plaza in Minneapolis, the same place where their wedding would be held two months later.

Paul and Sarah's Engagement Shoot

We met with Paul and Sarah for an engagement shoot in the Mill City Museum/Guthrie Theater area of Minneapolis. We walked the streets and spent a little time inside the Guthrie. Their wedding date is set for June 4th, 2010. They have a big year ahead with finishing college in different states (Paul in Pennsylvania and Sarah in Minnesota) and planning the rest of their wedding. Gretchen & Scott's Wedding

On June 27th Gretchen & Scott were married!

The ceremony took place at Berea Evangelical Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights. It was a beautiful church filled with about 200 guests. After the ceremony the wedding party headed off in a bus to two bars in St. Paul where they were able to unwind and celebrate. The reception was held at O'Reilley Hall in North St. Paul.

We did an engagement shoot with Gretchen and Scott last Saturday at the Stone Arch Bridge. What a beautiful area! There were so many different places to get great shots. The highlight was when the firemen driving by in their firetruck were willing to stop so we could get some pictures on the back of the firetruck. How cool!

Kelly & Ryan's Wedding

We had a blast at Kelly & Ryan's wedding last night. Kevin and Kyle were the photographers and I followed them around to carry equipment, offer suggestions, and to provide support. Recently experiencing my own wedding, I now have a new perspective on weddings. I was able to appreciate seeing Kelly and Ryan's family and friends gathering in the church to witness their marriage. It reminded me of the importance of a couple's wedding day and how truly special it is.

The ceremony took place at Crossroads Church in Woodbury and the reception was held at Mississippi Dunes in Cottage Grove. There were 200+ guests in attendance which made for an energetic reception. The dance floor was completely packed all night. It was fun to see so many people enjoying themselves as they celebrated this big event. At the end of the night the guests used noise makers to give Kelly and Ryan a lively send off as they left the reception.

We were so lucky to have Kelly and Ryan to work with for our first wedding. A couple that is genuinely in love, so easy to work with, and open to any ideas we had. We can't thank them enough for choosing us to photograph their big day!

Michael & Angela's Proposal

We had the privilege of shooting a proposal last night! It was so romantic and perfect and memorable. Kevin and Kyle were busy shooting away and I stood in the background with tears in my eyes.

Here's the story. Kevin's friend, Libby, contacted him about doing some photography for her brother, Michael. Michael was planning on proposing to his girlfriend and he wanted to capture it in photographs. Of course we were thrilled about this opportunity. So last week we met with Michael and Libby to discuss the details. We met them at Lake Calhoun where he wanted the proposal to take place. He found the perfect spot next to the lake with the city in the background. He was picking up the ring on Friday and wanted the proposal to take place on Sunday. At 3:30pm on Sunday Kyle, Kevin, and I met Libby and her mom at the scene to get set up. They brought luminaries that we set up into a trail that led to a circle. As we were preparing this, Michael was working on getting his girlfriend, Angela, to "go on a walk" around Lake Calhoun. With the cold temperatures (wind chill was sub zero), wind, and snow, I would love to hear how willing she was to do it...or what he did to persuade her to venture out. Around 4:30 we got the call that they were on their way. Libby and her mom quickly left and I finished lighting candles and setting up. Kevin and Kyle were taking test shots when Michael and Angela walked by. To get them to stop we asked them for a "favor"..."we're doing a photo shoot for a couple in about 30 minutes and we need to make sure everything is set up, we've never done this before, we're scrambling, and we want to make sure the pictures will turn out." They agreed. We had them walk through the luminaries, stand in the circle, and then walk through again. Kyle said, "I know this is weird, but could you just get down on one knee and..." at this point Angela started laughing and said "I know what's going on!!!" That's when Michael pulled out the ring, said a few words, and asked her. It was beautiful!

Kyle and Kevin got some great shots. I'm so happy we got to do this for Michael and Angela. I remember how happy and excited I was when Kyle asked me...it's fun to think about what she's going through right now. Doing this proposal shoot for them makes us excited for our future in this wedding photography adventure. Thanks Michael, for asking us to be a part of this! Congratulations to you both!!
